KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The NU Eagle men maintained their hold on the No. 20 ranking in the second regular-season installment of the 2012 - 13 NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, announced Tuesday by the national office. The Eagles won both games last week as they soundly defeated Pacific Lutheran on Tuesday, 72-38, and edged Evergreen in a double overtime, conference opener, 94-89, in Olympia on Saturday night.
NU joins four other Cascade Conference teams in the Top 25: No. 2 Eastern Oregon, No. 13 Warner Pacific and No. 16 Southern Oregon.
The Cascade Collegiate Conference and Great Plains Athletic Conference each claim the most schools with four teams in the Top 25. The Crossroads League and The Sun Conference land a trio of programs on the list. Overall, there are 11 of the 13 conferences and independents represented this week in the poll. Oregon Tech’s 90 consecutive week stretch has been snapped as the Owls are not in the Top 25 rankings.
The Eagles are back in action on Friday as they host Quest University from Squamish, B.C. in another non-conference game at 7:30 p.m. in the Pavilion.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and independents. The third regular-season Coaches’ Top 25 Poll will be announced on Dec. 11.
