Eagles Get Key Road Win Over OIT

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A goal by Alex Taylor in the 82nd minute would give Northwest University a 2-1 road victory over Oregon Tech tonight in Cascade Conference play. The win moves NU into sole possession of third place in the CCC with a 5-3 league record. Warner Pacific, who was tied with NU, battled to a 0-0 double overtime tie with Northwest Christian today to fall two points behind the Eagles in fourth.

Josh Peters would give the Eagles (7-4-1, 5-3 CCC) the 1-0 lead as he scored from 15 yards out at the 20:27 mark of the first half. Alex Taylor and James Kerr were credited with the double assist. Oregon Tech (0-10, 0-7 CCC) would tie the game in the 51st minute as Ashton Betts would score from 5 yards out.

Taylor would hit his unassisted 25 yarder and game winner through the OIT goalie at the 81:34 mark. Joe Galbraith (Whitefish, Mont.) had 6 saves in goal for Northwest U., giving him 16 saves in the past two games. Kerr’ assist gives him 5 for the season, tops in the CCC for all games played.

“We came here to get a win today and that’s what we did,” said Gary McIntosh, Eagle head coach. “OIT made us work hard for this victory as nothing came easy for us tonight. After they tied the game, we really stepped up our play and the guys got a well-deserved second goal. It’s always good to get a road win in our conference.”

NU returns home and will host Warner Pacific in another key CCC game on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 3 p.m. on the NU Athletic Field.
