

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The waiting is over for the NU Eagle men’s team and they learned they are going back to the NAIA Division II National Championships in Pt. lookout, Missouri, for the third straight year and the fourth time in 7 years. Northwest finished ranked No. 23 in the final Top 25 poll released earlier today and received the the No. 9 At-Large spot in the 32 team tournament. They will play Dordt of Iowa on Thursday at 10:15 CST. For a look at the entire bracket, click here.
NU is among four Cascade Conference teams headed to the tournament. Eastern Oregon (At-Large No. 2), Warner Pacific (CCC Co-champion) and Southern Oregon (CCC tournament runner-up) will also be playing in the tournament as the CCC has the most entries along with the independents with four teams in the field of 32.
“Our guys are thrilled about getting the chance to go back to Branson,” commented John Van Dyke, Eagle head coach. “This is our third year in a row, and something we do not take for granted. We have worked extremely hard to get back there and plan on putting our best foot forward. Dordt is an exceptionally strong team and has the talent to make a deep run in the tournament. We will go out there on Thursday and do our best.”
The 32-team, single elimination format will take place from March 6 - 12 in Point Lookout, Mo., on the campus of College of the Ozarks (Mo.). The championship kicks off at 8:30 a.m. CST on the first three days of competition, with eight games scheduled each day. Quarterfinal action tips off at 1 p.m. on March 9 with the semifinals slated for March 11 at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. The championship final, which will be televised live on CBS Sports Network, will start at 8 p.m. on March 12.
NeuLion, the NAIA’s official video streaming company of 12 select NAIA National Championship events, will be broadcasting the first 30 games from Point Lookout, Mo.
