GENEVA, Ohio - NU’s freshman, Jonathan Ferguson, didn’t let the bright lights of the SPIRE Institute bother him as he ran a NU school record 2:30.46 in the 1000m semifinals and finished in 11th place in the men’s 1000m run at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships this afternoon. Ferguson just missed qualifying for the championship finals with his record breaking time as he dropped over 3 seconds off his previous best this season.
“Jonathan ran awesome today,” commented Coach Mark Mandi, NU head coach. “Even though it was his first national championship meet, he competed like a veteran and someone who belonged in the race. While he barely missed making the finals, Jonathan set a school record in finishing 11th overall. Along with the finish of our women runners in yesterday’s race, I’m proud of effort these student-athletes put out.”
Congratulations to all the Eagle runners!
