LAGRANDE, Ore. - NU’s Joe Galbraith and Acacia Johnson have been named Red Lion Defensive and Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office Monday. Galbraith, the goalkeeper on the men’s soccer team, was named CCC Defensive Player of the Week while Johnson, a forward for the Eagle women’s team, was named CCC Offensive Player of the Week.
Galbraith, a 6-5 junior from Whitefish, Mont., played a major role in the Eagles’ 2-1 come from behind victory over Corban on Saturday as he was credited for 10 saves. Seven of those saves came in the critical second half as Corban pressed hard to tie the game with 17 total shots in the period.
Johnson, a sophomore forward from Puyallup, Wash., scored three goals in the 4-1 win over Corban University on Friday afternoon. She nearly had a fourth goal, but the Corban goalkeeper came up with a strong save. Her goals came in the 4th, 52nd and 65th minute of play and sealing the win over a solid Corban team.
Congratulations, Joe and Acacia!
