LAGRANDE, Ore. - For their outstanding performances over the weekend, NU goalkeeper Patty Hughes of Kalispell, Mont., and midfielder Jessica Oliver of North Bend, Wash., have been named the defensive and offensive players of the week for the Cascade Conference.
Patty Hughes from Northwest University has been chosen the Red Lion Player of the Week for Women’s Soccer-Defense for the week of October 22-28. Hughes, an Eagle sophomore goalkeeper, had two straight shutouts giving her 360 consecutive minutes of scoreless goalkeeping. It was her third and fourth straight shutouts since coming back from a shoulder injury. Hughes also Had 6 saves in the upset win over No. 3 Concordia on Friday.
Said Coach Redwine about Hughes, “Patty made a switch back when we played SOU and has been solid ever since. She is determined and leads with confidence.”
Honorable mention: Alyssa Ray, OIT
Northwest University’s Jessica Oliver has been chosen as the Red Lion Women’s Soccer-Offensive Player of the Week for October 22-28.
Oliver, a junior, Scored the game winners in both NU wins, including the upset over No. 3 Concordia, and the win over Warner Pacific which clinched the CCC title for the Eagles, their first since beginning the sport in 2006.
Here’s what Coach Redwine said about Jessica, “Jessie is playing on a totally different level. Her speed and focus to beat people is shocking. She is a true game changer.”
