For the second straight year, NU’s James Kerr of Bothell, Wash., has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District® 8 team for his work both in the classroom and on the field, as announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). James was one of only three players from the CCC to be voted to the team which includes all NAIA Division I and II teams and junior colleges in the west.
Kerr earned the same honor in 2011 and nominees must have a minimum 3.30 grade point average and must compete in 50% of each contest a team plays. James has been a starter and co-captain on this season’s men’s soccer team which is currently 10-6-1 and will finish their regular season tomorrow in Olympia as they play Evergreen. He has started in all 17 games this season and also recently earned Cascade Conference Scholar-Athlete honors for the third consecutive year.
Kerr will now be eligible for national honors and a chance to be voted to the Capital One Academic All-America team later this month.
Congratulations, James!
