

ASHLAND, Ore. – Northwest University and Southern Oregon battled to a 0-0 tie in double overtime this afternoon in Cascade Conference play.
Northwest’s (1-8-2, 0-1-1 CCC) Patty Hughes had 4 saves in goal for the Eagles to preserve the tie after 110 minutes of play. Southern Oregon (5-3-2, 1-0-1 CCC) outshot Northwest 11-7 and had the edge in corner kicks, 6-3, but was turned away by Hughes and the NU defense. NU had two shots in the first overtime and SOU had two in the second extra period, but neither team was able to break the tie. Emma Neustel’s shot in the 93rd minute was saved by Southern Oregon goalkeeper, Kelsey Clement and Acacia Johnson’s shot at 95:51 went just high of the goal.
Said Coach Erin Redwine after the game, “We broke out today. We really battled and our mentality was unbeaten and carried us through the double overtime. Now, we focus on finishing our chances this week.”
