LAGRANDE, Ore. - Two NU Eagle volleyball players were named to the All-CCC team for 2012. Senior libero, Heather Shulke was named to the first team by a vote of the league coaches. Junior outside hitter, Sarah Stoker earned Honorable Mention honors.

For Shulke, it is her second straight year being named to the first team as she finished the year ranked #2 in the CCC in digs with 414 (557 season digs) and a 6.27 d/ps average. She was ranked #7 in NAIA Division I in digs per set. Heather broke the long standing NU record for career digs as she ends her three year career at Northwest with 1,612. She is also #1 in digs per set at NU with a 5.8 d/ps average. Added to her 399 digs she had at Palm Beach Atlantic prior to transferring to NU, Shulke totals 2,011 career digs. Also an outstanding student, she was also named a CCC Scholar Athlete and a Daktronics NAIA Scholar Athlete.

Stoker finished 2nd in blocks in the CCC with 75 this past season for a 1.14 b/ps average. She amassed 118 blocks for the entire season putting her at #12 in NAIA Division I. She now has 350 career blocks which moves her into the #1 all-time NU leaders in total blocks and blocks per set. Also, an outstanding student, Stoker was recently named to the Capital One CoSIDA District 8 Scholar Athlete First team for the second straight year. It is also her second time earning honorable mention honors for the conference.

Steven Bain, NU head coach said this about Heather and Sarah, “It is always gratifying to see a player’s hard work and commitment recognized by post-season accolades and I want to congratulate both Heather and Sarah on their selection to the CCC All-Conference team. Heather is undoubtedly one of the best players in the conference and this is a fitting reward as her career at Northwest comes to a close. Sarah is equally deserving and I look forward to watching Sarah continue to improve and become even more of an impact player next season”.
