

PORTLAND, Ore. - Warner Pacific sank four of four free throws with 41 seconds remaining as the Knights held off an upset bid by Northwest University, 61-56, in Cascade Conference play tonight.
Leading 57-56 with 2:05 remaining, Warner Pacific’s Morgan Wolff and Chelsey Christensen each made two free throws to help seal the victory in the late stages of the game. Northwest missed two shot attempts as they dropped their 20th game of the season.
In the first half, Warner Pac would build a 17 point lead, 34-17, with 6:10 to go in the half, but NU would chip away at the lead and Sanda Milovic’s 3 pointer with 7 seconds left on the clock would cut the lead to 11, 39-28, as the teams would head to the locker room.
The second half would see the Knights leading by 14, 49-35 with 14:10 on the clock, but a 14-2 run by the Eagles would make it a 2 point ball game (51-49) as Domi Mendezona would sink a free throw at the 7:28 mark. NU would cut the WPC lead to one, 55-54 with 3:36 to go and Mendezona’s driving layup with 2:54 remaining would give NU their first lead of the game at 56-55. Tori Carroll would give the lead back to the Knights with her jumper at 2:05 (57-56) and they would go on to sink four of four free throws in the final 41 seconds for the win.
Sophomore guard Corinne Burke (Lake Stevens, Wash.) led Northwest U. (2-20, 1-14 CCC) with 12 points. Senior Alivia Johnson (Couer d’Alene, Ida.) came off the bench to score 11 points and grab 5 rebounds. Sanda Milovoc (Kent, Wash.) added 10 points for the Eagles who shot 38% for the game (19-50).
Northwest U. returns to Kirkland and will host Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech next Friday and Saturday.
