Women’s Soccer Team Named CCC Team of the Week

LA GRANDE, Ore. –The Northwest University women’s soccer team has been named the Adidas Team of the Week, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.

The Eagles secured their first ever Cascade Collegiate Conference women’s soccer regular season championship with two big victories this past week. NU, (8-8-1, 7-1-1 CCC) defeated No. 3 in the country, Concordia. on Friday 1-0 and Warner Pacific 2-0 on Saturday to propel themselves to the top of the CCC standings.

“I am so proud of the team for sticking together and not losing sight of our vision through a very trying preseason,” stated head coach Erin Redwine. “Experiencing disappointment early on helped us prepare for conference play and made us stronger. Winning the conference feels great and I’m so happy these ladies are reaping the reward of their hard work now.”

With the Conference title the Eagles earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming CCC post season tournament. NU will host No. 4 seed Oregon Tech on Saturday November 3. The winner will take on the winner of the other semifinal match between No. 2 seed Concordia and No. 3 seed Southern Oregon. The championship match will take place on November 10 with the winner earning the automatic bid to the NAIA post season tournament.

Game time for Saturday’s game will be announced by Director of Athletics, Gary McIntosh.
