Now in graduate school, Luke currently leads the CCC with the best mark in the javelin for 2013 with a toss of 63.32 (208’-08”) which is one of the top marks in the NAIA this spring.
In the spring of 2012, Fischer finished third in the javelin at the CCC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Oregon and then went on to place 2nd in the NAIA Outdoor National Championships which earned him NAIA All-American honors. He broke the NU school record in the event with a throw of 212’-04”. Luke was also named to the first team, Capital One CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-American team and was also a first team member of the CoSIDA District 8 All-Academic team. He was named the NU Male Athlete of the Year in 2012 and was a CCC and NAIA scholar athlete.
Fischer finished second in javelin in the 2011 CCC Track & Field Championships and earned a berth in the 2011 NAIA National Outdoor Track & Field Championships where he finished in 8th place in the javelin. Set a lifetime best and new NU record in the javelin with a toss of 202’.
Luke was named a 2011 CCC and NAIA spring scholar athlete for excellence in the classroom and was the Cascade Conference Champions of Character Award winnner for 2011.
Fischer was a multi sport athlete at Flathead High as he threw the javelin for a school record of 199’8” in his senior year and was a Montana state champion in wrestling winning the 171 pound class in 2008 with a record of 42-2.
He was a first team All-CCC soccer team member in the 2010 season. Luke was a second team All-CCC Team member for the 2009 and 2011 soccer seasons and was awarded All-Cascade Conference Honorable Mention honors in 2008. Fischer was also named NAIA National Player of the Week and first team All-CCC in soccer during the 2010 season. Luke was also named Eagles team captain multiple years.
