Michael is a junior in eligibility and a senior academically having been a part of the Running Start program in high school. Greene has played in three consecutive NAIA Division II national championships in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Greene led the NU team in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals during the 2012-13 season earning him first team, All-Cascade Conference honors as he helped lead the Eagles to the NAIA Division II Nationals Championships in Missouri for the third consecutive year. Michael scored 587 points and averaged 19.79 points per game. He averaged 8.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.4 steals per game. He was ranked #2 in the NAIA in field goal percentage with a .655 mark. Greene also scored his 1,000th career point during the season and now has 1,098 for his three years of play.
Also during the 2012-13 season, Greene was voted the Cascade Player of the Week three times. An outstanding student, he was a CCC and NAIA scholar athlete and was named to the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) District 8 scholar athlete first team. He was later named a Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-American first team member, a national award.
In 2011-12, Michael was the fourth leading scorer for the Eagles with an 11.5 ppg average and grabbed 7.1 rebounds per contest. He was also one of the top shooters in the conference averaging 63% from the floor and hit 75.5% of his free throws. He earned honorable mention all-conference honors for the season.
Michael was named to the 2011-12 Cascade Conference All-Academic Team. He was also voted to the second team CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-American team for 2012. Maintaining a 3.9 grade point average, Michael was the only student-athlete selected from the CCC and the west coast for the CoSIDA team.
Michael graduated from Squalicum High School in Bellingham and Greene’s Storm team (26-1) won back-to-back 2A state championships in 2009 and 2010. He was named All-Northwest Conference first team member two consecutive years (‘09-‘10), 2A All-State Tournament first team, Associated Press All-State first team and was selected to play in this year’s WIBCA All-State game. He averaged 16.1 points per game with a 75% field goal accuracy, 9.42 rebounds per game and shot 71% from the free throw line.
