Redwine Co-Coach of the Year, Johnson Top Newcomer

Northwest University's women's soccer coach, Erin Redwine, was voted the Cascade Conference co-Coach of the Year by the league coaches as announced by the league office in Portland, Ore. NU's freshman forward, Acacia Johnson of Puyallup, Wash., was named Newcomer of the Year by the conference coaches and five other Eagles received All-CCC honors.

Coach Redwine shares the Coach of the Year Award with Southern Oregon's Jon Clement who guided the Raiders to a second place finish in the CCC. Coach Redwine led the Eagles to third place in the conference and the CCC tournament championship match. NU was picked to finish fifth in the CCC preseason poll of the conference head coaches. The Eagles compiled an 11-4-4 season record, best ever since their inaugural season just 6 years ago.

Johnson became the second consecutive freshman to garner the Newcomer of the Year Award. Johnson totaled 22 points on 10 goals and 2 assists to lead the Eagle team. She finished second in the league in goals and goals per game.

Seniors Stephanie Cummins (Renton, Wash.) and Abby Brauer (Kent, Wash.) were voted to the All-CCC First Team along with Johnson. Senior goalkeeper, Jordan Holmes (Mountlake Terrace, Wash.) was named to the CCC second team while teammates Kirstie Walton (Sr., MF, Snohomish, Wash.) and Jordyn Wilson (Sr., MF, Snoqualmie, Wash.) were honorable mention honorees.

"Women's soccer has had a great season," stated NU Director of Athletics, Gary McIntosh. "In the championship game they played one of the best teams in the country and just came up short. Erin has been named co-coach of the year and she deserves this honor. We are proud Erin and the leadership she has shown for the soccer program."
