
OLYMPIA, WA - Guard Rachel Travis and forward Brittany Bowsher combined for 48 points tonight as the Eagles upset The Evergreen State College, 74-55, in Olympia.
Trailing 29-28 at halftime, NU out scored TESC 46-26 in the second half to cruise to the victory. The Eagles heated up in the second stanza shooting 46.7% from 2 point range and shooting a hot 72.7% from the 3-point arc on 8 for 11 shooting.
NU's victory possibly knocked the Geoducks out of play off contention as they fell to 5-10 and out of the tie for eighth place, the final berth in the conference tournament with 5 games to play.
Rachel Travis (Jr., North Bend, WA) scored her season high 26 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished out 4 assists for the Eagles (3-20, 2-13 CCC). Junior Brittany Bowsher scored 22 points while going 3 for 4 from the 3-point line. Freshman Erika Hornyak (Everett, WA) dropped in 13 points. NU won the battle of the boards, out rebounding TESC, 36-30.
Kristi Auckland scored 17 points for Evergreen State (6-18, 5-10 CCC) and added 5 rebounds while teammate Jennifer Solberg contributed 11 points and 8 boards for the Geoducks.
The Eagles will be at home on Friday as they host Northwest Christian in The Pavilion.
