ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Northwest University track & field team headed to Central Washington University for the annual Spike Arlt Invitational on Saturday. Eagle frosh, Jonathan Melton, took 4th in the men’s 200m dash (22.67) and 7th in the men’s 100m dash (11.16), 2nd best in school history. Melton has already broken the Northwest U. school record in the 100m dash with an 11.09 he ran earlier at the Oregon Preview Meet.

Coach McIntosh Filling in For Ailing Coach

EVERETT, Wash. - Gary McIntosh, NU men’s soccer coach and director of athletics is filling in as head coach of the FC Edmonds Boo Yahs youth soccer team in place of Dan Porter who has been diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) and is forced to remain at home. Michael Fitch of Edmonds is helping McIntosh as the team manager and assistant head coach.

Former Eagle Heading to Afghanistan

KIRKLAND, Wash. - Former all-conference post and member of the Eagles men’s basketball program, Greg George (NU ‘11), has deployed to Afghanistan this week for a tour of duty with the U.S. Army. Greg was a member of the ROTC during his time at Northwest University and attended ROTC classes at the University of Washington while also playing and attending classes at Northwest U. He was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the Army upon graduation from NU in the spring of 2011.

Weather Moves Weekend Softball Games

LAGRANDE, Ore. - A decision has been made to move this weekend’s games to a Saturday-Sunday schedule due to rain expected in LaGrande as announced by the conference office. The Eagles will play in Caldwell on Saturday in their game with the College of Idaho at 2 p.m. and then head west to play in La Grande on Sunday at 11 a.m. Concordia, NU’s travel partner, will play Eastern Oregon on Saturday and the College of Idaho on Sunday.
