A 5-6 point guard from Issaquah High School, Domi, will be a junior this year for the Eagles. Domi started in 26 of the 27 games last season and averaged 11.5 points per game and 5.1 assists per game earning her honorable mention honors for the All-CCC team for the 2011-12 season. She was third in the conference in assists and 8th in free throw percentage with a .773 average. Mendezona was ranked third in the Cascade Conference in assist to turnover ratio.
As the only senior on the Issaquah team, she helped lead them to the 4A state tournament in spring, 2010, and played in the semi final game. She was a Kingco All-Conference Honorable mention for 2009-10, averaging 7 points per game and 3.5 assists.
“Domi is a true point guard who looks to get her teammates involved and is willing to do whatever it takes to make the team better,” stated NU Head Coach, Lori Napier. “She has excellent court vision and ball handling skills and comes from one of the best defensive high school basketball programs in the state. Her love of basketball and work ethic are outstanding and has made her transition from high school to the college game seamless.”
Domi is the sister of NU assistant coach, Jessica Welcome, 2009-10 Cascade Conference Co-Player of the Year and Third Team NAIA All-American. Her older brother, Tyler Mendezona is an NU grad and former guard for the Northwest U. men’s team. Her father, Wayne, was men’s head coach at Northwest from 1996-2000.
