On Friday, February 17, President Barack Obama landed on Northwest University’s campus. The former Seattle Seahawks fields were deemed an adequate place for Marine One and six other support helicopters. The President was in town attending a private function in nearby Bellevue.
Secret Service agents roamed the campus as crowds of students and faculty gathered, hoping to catch a glimpse of the action. The mood on campus crackled with anticipation, as drills using several military helicopters, which captured the attention of the campus on Wednesday, preceded the President’s arrival.
“We were thinking of making signs and getting out lawn chairs!” joked junior Brianna Wondra.
Accompanied by dozens of police motorcycles and an imposing collection of black SUVs, President Obama left NU through streets lined with excited students and neighbors from the local community.
