Last week in chapel, the Northwest University community had the pleasure of hearing from guest speaker Paul Young, New York Times best selling author of Crossroads and The Shack.
Young's word of encouragement resonated with many in the audience. His message spoke to those trying to achieve perfection to please God. He urged everyone to trust in God's divine plans and timing.
"Paul Young speaking couldn't have come at a better time," said Jennifer Jensen, Ministry Assistant to Campus Pastor Phil Rasmussen. "He really brought a great message today and addressed exactly what our student body has been thinking about! The best part is, he had the freedom to speak on anything he wanted."
Young also vulnerably shared about the controversy and feedback he has received about his book The Shack. He revealed his heart to the NU community and explained why he wrote the book in the first place.

Students, faculty, and staff had the opportunity to meet the author after both chapel services. Some even got his most recent book Crossroads signed and personally addressed to them. Many students were grateful for the humility and kindness Young showed in getting to know each one of them in the limited time he had while on campus. Met with many hands to shake, the author was quick to embrace his fans with hugs instead. "No need for shaking hands," he would say, "we're friends!"
