Introduction

If you would like an on-campus job or have received a Work Study Award amount and qualify for the Federal Work Study program, please complete an application package.  The application package should include:

  1. Northwest University Application for Employment (PDF)
  2. Cover letter of interest
  3. Resume
  4. Current class schedule, if you have it, as it would be helpful to the hiring supervisors’ to know of your availability.

Note which areas (listed below) you would like your application to be sent for Fall 2010 Student Employment consideration.  Most of our student employees who worked in these positions in Spring 2010 will return to their same position next semester, but there may still be several positions open for the supervisors to fill. Please note, it would be July-August 2010 when department supervisors review applications for Fall 2010 student employees, interview and recommend for hire according to skills, experience, and availablity.

You can prepare for on-campus student employment by completing the Preventing Sexual Harassment (PSH) Training which you can do online. Please go to http://www.newmedialearning.com/psh/northwestu/ and select the option for “Student”. Pursue the tutorial information, take the Mastery Test, and print off the Certificate of Completion; sign it and either send it with your application package or plan to bring it to Human Resources if hired.

If you are recommended for an on-campus student position you will need to be hired by Human Resources. You will need to bring two forms of ID like a passport; or social security card or certified birth certificate AND picture ID like a driver’s license or school ID.

The Financial Aid Services Office coordinates the Work Study program at Northwest University.  To learn more about this and other Work Study programs, click here.

The Federal Work Study program is for on-campus employment, and was also planned to benefit students with financial need, who may or may not qualify for the Washington State Work Study program because of their ministry related major or minor.  If you have received a Work Study Award and qualify for the Washington State Work Study program, you should contact the Financial Aid Office for a list of participating employers.

If you have qualified for Federal Work Study, and are contacted for an interview with a department supervisor, and subsequently hired for that position, inform the Financial Aid Office that you have been hired to work on-campus.  The Financial Aid Office will then process you for Federal Work Study.

The Washington State Work Study program is for off-campus employment, intended to give students work experience in their field of interest while earning a wage.  However, a student with a ministry related major or minor is not eligible for the Washington State Work Study Program.
