Having begun in ministry as part of the evangelistic Christian Rock movement of the late seventies and early eighties, I have since accumulated quite a few years of pastoral ministry experience in the Pacific Northwest, serving in worship leading and associate pastor roles at Northwest Community Church, Westminster Chapel of Bellevue, and Eastside Foursquare Church. In 2001, my wife Treesa and I led the establishment of Hillside Chapel in the Novelty Hill area of Redmond, a joint effort between Westminster Chapel and Eastside Foursquare Church. After six year as senior pastor of Hillside, I joined staff and faculty at Northwest University, where I now have the privilege of serving as Associate Professor of Ministry Leadership, focusing primarily on the College of Adult and Professional Studies, Adult Evening Program, but teaching courses in the College of Ministry’s traditional, graduate, and online programs as well. I also serve as Adjunct Associate Professor at Fuller Seminary Northwest, teaching graduate courses in Worship and Christian Spirituality. I also serve as Vice President of the Pacific Association for Theological Education (PAThS), which was originally formed to bring graduate-level theological and ministerial training to the Pacific Northwest and now works to create a collaborative, relational environment among the leaders of the Bible colleges, seminaries, and Christian universities in the northwest states. I am an ordained minister with the Foursquare denomination.
Treesa and I have been married for twenty-eight years and have eight children: three the old-fashioned way, plus five Sudanese children from Kenya who joined the Bangs family in 2008. We make our home in Redmond, WA.
