Washington State aid is only available to Washington State residents, but is available to both incoming Freshmen or Transfer students. To be considered a resident, one of the following must be true:
Due to state law, Washington State financial aid is not available to students pursuing a major or minor offered by the College of Ministry (including the Ministry Leadership major offered through the LEAP program).
Eligibility: Must show financial need by the Washington State Need Grant formula, part of which requires that student must be pursuing a non-ministry major or career.
Amount: Amount varies each year based upon Washington State funding. For the 2011-2012 academic year, the maximum amount is $8,214.
Renewal: Must re-apply for financial aid and maintain satisfactory academic progress.
Application: Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Students who receive Washington State Need Grants must sign the “WSNG Agreement and Directive” in order to receive their funds each term from the Financial Aid Services Office.
Also, WSNG recipients agree that the Higher Education Coordinating Board (the Washington State Agency that issues the grant) and Northwest University reserve the right to withdraw, reduce, or modify the grant due to funding limitations or due to changes in circumstances which will affect the student’s eligibility for the Washington State Need Grant.
Eligibility: Must be a High School Senior nominated by your school principal. Student must enroll at a qualifying college or university effective fall term immediately following high school graduation and remain continuously enrolled for three academic quarters or two semesters.
Amount: Amount varies each year based upon Washington State funding.
Renewal: Must maintain a 3.30 cumulative GPA.
