Program Features
Northwest University’s Southern Idaho program will be offered through Northwest’s Office of Extended Education as part of the LEAP (Leadership Education for Adult Professionals) Program.
The LEAP program is designed to meet the unique needs of busy adult professionals, people who have multiple responsibilities and complex lives and who, therefore, require unique solutions to their educational needs. Our locations, classes, schedules, professors, degrees, and staff are all structured to serve the working adult professional.
Your Professors
Your professors have more than just great academic education and preparation. They also are experienced ministers with real-world, on-the-ground experience. Faculty in Southern Idaho will be a combination of Northwest’s excellent faculty from the main campus in Kirkland, Wash., along with local professors from the Boise area who meet Northwest’s high standards and possess appropriate academic credentials.
Your Cohort
Other students in the classroom with you will also be adult learners. This creates a learning climate of respect and collaboration, where you learn from one another and where your contributions are valued. You will take almost all of your courses with the same group of students—your cohort—in the same location, and on the same night of the week. This allows for a climate of mutual spiritual and academic support and a sense of camaraderie and community.
Other Program Benefits
- Attend classes one evening a week, plus an occasional Saturday.
- Earn your Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree even as you continue in your full-time career or ministry.
- Discover that you may be eligible for Financial Aid.
- Receive personal attention from dedicated faculty.
- Learn from other students, who represent diverse professional, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
- You may be eligible to receive credit for prior learning—college level credit for learning in non-academic settings. This can include on-the-job training, college-level exams, or documentation of college level competency in an academic field.
- Small class size—usually 12 to 25 students.
Program Outcomes
The College of Ministry at Northwest University is dedicated to assisting students in the development of “heart, soul, mind and strength,” in the service of ministry. This program has been designed to address the challenge of continuing education for adult students in today’s fast-paced, ever-changing world.
