Ministries have been sub-divided into the following categories:

 

Student-Led Opportunities

 

A2K

"Come Be an Ambassador to Kirkland"
A2K exists to show the love of Jesus to the Kirkland Community by buying people's groceries and gas, handing out water bottles, washing their cars, beautifying parks, etc.

Lighthouse

"A Relational Ministry to Seattle’s Homeless"
Lighthouse is a relational ministry to the homeless of Capitol Hill that exists to see the lives of the homeless transformed through being freed of their addictions, getting off the streets, and coming to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.  Every Friday night Lighthouse meets to pray and then drive to Seattle to spend time with the homeless.

Meet the Need

Meet the Need is a ministry where students can meet the practical needs of others within the Northwest community in any way possible.

Nation 2 Nation

"For You Were Once Aliens..."
Nation 2 Nation befriends international students from BCC and UW and helps them with their English and their social needs, all while being a witness of the good news of Christ.

When: Thursdays at 7:00 PM (conversational partnering can be set up and scheduled at any time agreed upon by both parties)

Pursuit

Pursuit is a time of student-led worship that takes place every Monday night.

Prayer Team

"Awakening this generation through the power of prayer"
Prayer at NU focuses on reaching beyond this campus and affecting the world.  Prayer times will focus on stopping human trafficking and overflowing this community with the Holy Spirit.  Prayer has the power to awaken the city of Kirkland and beyond, and this ministry harnesses this power to bring Jesus mission forward.

Small Groups

"NU is You"
Small groups provide opportunities for people to connect with others, while using their gifts and passions to impact the NU community and the world.

When: First small group chapel is September 20th.  Small groups choose their own meeting times.

Triumph Prison Ministries

"Moving Through the Walls"
Triumph is dedicated to taking the message of Jesus Christ into jails, prisons, and mainly juvenile centers through means of outreach services consisting of worship, dramas, and testimonies.

Women of Purpose

"For such a time as this..." (Esther 4:14)
A ministry outreach for women to promote an environment where women will feel safe to share, encourage one another, and grow into women of great purpose through mentorship, prayer partners, fellowship, and retreats.  The purpose of this ministry is to equip women with practical life skills which will enable them to live healthy balanced lives.

One-Time Opportunities

Minister to and pray with local high school and middle school students in a nation-wide prayer meeting.

Carillon Woods Ivy-Pull

"Because Kirkland's Trees Need God's Love Too"
Join other members of the Kirkland Community in helping to prevent aggressive English Ivy from killing Carillon Woods.  This event is sponsored by the Kirkland Parks and Community Services Department and is a great way to show God's love in a practical way to NU's local community.

Thailiand Missions Trip

Mix with 200 Missionaries living in China and working with Tibetan Buddhist peoples.

Off-Campus Opportunities

 

Bridge Ministries

This organization works with disabled people helping to provide them with medical equipment and organizes events for the disabled.  There are many volunteer opportunities with this organization including administrative work, volunteering for specific events, and washing and repairing medical equipment.  There is no time requirement.

Children's Hospital

There are several volunteer opportunities at this particular location such as raising funds for the hospital, sewing clothes for the patients, rocking babies, or playing with the children.

Everett Gospel Mission

Everett Gospel Mission helps to feed and assist the homeless.

Evergreen Hospice

There are a variety of opportunities for volunteers including greeters, direct patient care, and bereavement.  They require a time commitment of one year for 2-4 hours a week.

Lake Vue Gardens

This is a nursing home on the Eastside.  There are several volunteer opportunities at this facility such as helping to run programs (bingo, movie, etc.), visiting the residents, using a special talent (ex: music) to entertain, etc.  There is no time commitment.  They allow one time volunteers and volunteers that want to commit to more time.

Peace on the Streets for Kids on the Streets (PSKS)

This organization provides support and services for homeless youth and young adults.  There are only a few volunteer positions that require a significant time commitment for those who want to volunteer more than once.

Teen Feed

This location has a few volunteer opportunities, but the primary position they need volunteers for is as an advocate.  Advocates sit with youth and interact with them during dinner.  They are basically mentors.  They want a time commitment of six months coming in one night a week for about two hours.

Everett Gospel Mission

This location has numerous volunteer opportunities.  They work with many populations including at risk youth, homeless people, and drug addicts.  Depending on what capacity one would like to volunteer in, there are several phone numbers on the webpage to can call.

Young Life

Young Life is a non-denominational, Christian organization committed to impacting kids' lives and preparing them for the future.  For more than six decades, Young Life has been introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith, while providing strong, positive influences in their lives.

Spring Break & Summer Opportunities

 

Morocco Trip at Spring Break

Randy Martin and Mohammed Kobli will be visiting Morocco.  Great relationships are begun as students interact and share the message of Christ with believers from this Muslim Country.

YD Adventures

Each summer YD Adventures hires a select number of qualified individuals from all over the US, Canada, and beyond, to help lead adventures based wilderness activities for a wide variety of individuals and groups.  The staff ministry team makes serving Christ and other their number one priority.
