The festival, held February 23-26, includes competitions for vocal and instrumental jazz ensembles and soloists from throughout the Northwest region. Festival participants also attend concerts and workshops by world-famous jazz performers.

The students from Northwest will perform in the large vocal jazz division on Thursday, February 24. The Vocal Jazz Ensemble is made up of 15 vocals and four rhythm musicians and is directed by Ken Prettyman, Associate Professor of Music. “Our vocal jazz group is outstanding this year and should do very well in the competition. This will be our second appearance at the festival,” Prettyman said.
