Alice Dobson, Class of '41, Passes Away

Alice (Richardson) Dobson, Class of 1941, and wife of Rev. Alfred Dobson, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 28. She was 90 years old.

She was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, to Alfred and Minnie (Clemens) Richardson. On Aug. 30, 1941, she married the Rev. Alfred A. Dobson in Vancouver, B.C.

Mrs. Dobson was a licensed minister with the Assemblies of God in Canada and Washington state for 65 years, retiring in 1980. She was active as a women's ministry coordinator and advisor and received a degree from Northwest in 1941.

She also worked as a mental health nurse in Canada prior to her marriage. She enjoyed her family, sewing, travel and hosting missionaries in her home.

Mrs. Dobson was preceded in death by five siblings, Maxine, Robert, Clare, Ross and Pearl Richardson. Surviving are her husband; three sons, Paul and his wife, Anna, of Bremerton, Brian and his wife, Marylin, of Poulsbo and Dwight and his wife, Anita, of Sri Lanka; a daughter, Denise Dobson of Stockton, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Scot, Lacey, Daniel, Jill, Jeff, David, Paul and Andre; four great-grandchildren, Austin, Blake, Jude and Mya; and special family friend, Jim Fox.

Her husband, Alfred, is also suffering from a long-term illness and is currently living with Paul (his son) and Anna Dobson in Bremerton. Paul and Anna are the parents of Northwest University alumnae Lacey Dobson, who graduated in 2003.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at Hillcrest Assembly, 6750 St. Highway 303 in Bremerton. Memorial donations may be made to Northwest University, Nursing Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 579, Kirkland, WA 98083.
