Dan Maser Passes Away
Dan Maser was born November 9, 1919, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He grew up in the Everett, Washington area, where the family attended Bethany Temple, pastored by Rev.Charles Butterfield. Dan came to Seattle Both he and Betty felt called to serve as missionaries to Latin American. Before going to the field, they pastored in Enumclaw and Waterville, and then started the church in Spokane Valley and were there 7 1/2 years before raising their missionary support and leaving for Cuba in 1956. In a career of 40 years, they served in Cuba, Honduras, Venezuela, and The Canary Islands of Spain. Dan and Betty started and built many churches (both the congregations and physical buildings) in every field they served. In 1996, Dan and Betty retired from active foreign missionary service. Later, they returned to the field as pastor for an additional six months. Dan was 76 at his retirement. The Masers celebrated 66 years of marriage on August 16, 2007. Dan and Betty have two children, Larry and Janet. Larry preceded Dan in death in 1995. Janet and her husband, Andrew Shetley, moved from Texas to Seattle in 2007 to be near the Masers, knowing that Dan's health was failing. After several years of battling congestive heart failure and kidney failure, Dan went to be with the Lord at 9:30 p.m. January 29, 2008. The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2008, at Calvary Christian Assembly (formerly Calvary Temple) located at 6801 Roosevelt Way NE, Seattle, WA 98115. Telephone (206) 525-7474. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Chapel of the Resurrection in Bothell. There will be a reception following the service.
