Creatio’s Steve Smith Nominated for GRAMMY Music Educator of the Year Award

Northwest University would like to congratulate our very own Steve Smith, Creative Director and principle instructor of Creatio’s Recording Arts degree programs, for his recent nomination by the GRAMMY Foundation (National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences) as a candidate to receive the first ever GRAMMY Music Educator Award.

The Music Educator Award exists to recognize music educators for their contributions to America’s musical landscape and their positive influence on their students’ musical experiences. One winner will be selected from 10 finalists to be recognized for their remarkable impact on their students’ lives. The first award will be presented during GRAMMY Week – February 2014.

Music Educator nominees are evaluated based on the demonstrated evidence that they:

  • Have made a measurable difference in the lives of students.
  • Have made a significant and lasting contribution to the field of music education.
  • Are exemplars of the best in their field.
  • Have shown a commitment to the broader cause of maintaining music education in our schools.
  • Have made a significant impact on their school and community.

This Grammy nomination marks the third in Steve’s distinguished career and would be an honored addition to his previous two recording wins.
