Marissa Flannery, a Northwest University student and cross-country runner, won the Palestine Half Marathon on April 11 with the fastest women’s time.
Flannery finished the 13.1-mile race with a time of 1:42:14, a minute and 26 seconds faster than her closest competitor.
The Palestine Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K are part of the “Right to Movement” initiative that promotes Palestinian women’s rights. This year’s race drew 3,200 runners from 39 different countries.
Marissa is currently studying abroad in the Middle East through BestSemester’s Middle East Studies Program (MESP).
