On the frosty morning of December 8th, competition was fierce as the remaining two teams battled it out for bragging rights as the 2012 Intramural Flag Football champions. Each fall at NU, flag football teams are organized by living areas as residents of Gray and Beatty halls, the upper-classmen apartments, married housing, and off campus compete against one another. Flag football is just one of many activities offered by the Rec. Sports Department at NU.

Northwest Choralons is an innovative choir made up of 110 vocalists and a seven-piece rhythm section. On December 10th they’ll be performing in the Butterfield Chapel at 7 pm. This event marks the debut of their touring season.

After a preseason plagued with injuries and struggle, the women's soccer team, lead by coach Erin Redwine, turned their season into a winning record and claimed the no.1 seed going into their final game. By claiming the top spot in the conference NU had the opportunity to host no.2 Concordia U. in the CCC Championship Title Game for the first time in the program's history.

Every year the annual Student Talent Show, which is organized by the Student Activities Board, is a popular event on campus. This year the event was completely packed out! The theme was "Cafe 'a la Talent," set with a coffee shop style atmosphere in true Seattle fashion. This show's lineup included: singer/songwriters, musicians, slam poetry, break-dancing, human beat-boxing, and a Gangnam Style performance by CELE students.

Last Tuesday, over 100 students gathered for a live screening of the second Presidential Debate, followed by refreshments and a panel discussion concerning a variety of topics related to the night’s proceedings. The Residence Life Staff of the Gray & Beatty residence halls organized the event, and NU’s debate team captain, Calvin Horne, moderated the discussion.

Last week, senior nursing students from the Buntain School of Nursing were lead by Nursing faculty members in a partnership with Seattle’s iconic Union Gospel Mission. The students visited organizations within UGM’s network, and were able to provide basic care services for those in need.

This week Northwest University welcomed the freshman class of 2016 onto its beautiful fifty-six acre campus. Orientation began on Wednesday, when current NU students, faculty, and staff met each loaded car and helped to quickly unload, carry, and move belongings into the dorms.

On Friday, February 17, President Barack Obama landed on Northwest University’s campus. The former Seattle Seahawks fields were deemed an adequate place for Marine One and six other support helicopters. The President was in town attending a private function in nearby Bellevue.
