My home church in Olympia started something about five years ago that I absolutely cherish and will continue to do for the rest of my life: our church prays for a word of direction both corporately and personally.

The same thing happens every year. I have my New Years resolutions, goals, and aspirations. But this year I am doing them a little bit differently.

Happy New Year!!
Reflecting back on 2012 I am so glad that I lived such a quick year full of love, laughter, tears, learning, ups, downs, and everything else! With 2013 coming up in a couple of days, I look forward to the next year with excitement and a resolution I intend to keep!

Selah is a word that many are familiar with, seeing it 71 times in Psalms. It is a difficult word to translate into English that can mean "to praise" or "to pause", but it is mostly used in psalms to stand for musical pause. With my last final complete, and the holiday season upon us, I reflect on what "selah" means to me.

The general splendor colored the faces of an eager choir, and the orchestra stood waiting for the cue from the conductor. A silence fell upon the audience as the lights dimmed and the conductor lifted his hands to begin. At that moment, all hearts took a journey as the orchestra began playing their sweet song with the swift merriment of the violins, and the woody tones of the cellos and basses. The eyes of those listening became as bright as the brass players’ clear, joyful notes and ears were satisfied with graceful woodwind strains that floated over the top of the orchestra. The instruments hung in anticipation, and as the conductor lifted his hand again to cue, voices full of joy and warmth filled in every hollow space and sang a song of the Savior King.
