I am a full-time student here at Northwest University. That alone entails a lot of responsibility. I'm keeping up with a full credit load, attending events and meetings, living harmoniously with roommates (that does take effort!), working part-time, and attempting to maintain a social life. But, that's not all! I also have to make time to spend with my fiancé and plan a wedding that will be over a thousand miles away from NU! As you can imagine, this makes my life incredibly busy! However, it's never boring.

Last time I made a smoothie, it didn't turn out so well. So today, I decided to get back on that horse and try it again. This time, my smoothie turned out delicious! Eating healthy while in college is a challenge for everyone, whether you're deciding between the legendary Friday chicken nuggets or staring down the salad bar at the caf or at the grocery store deciding between the cheap ramen or the expensive fruits and veggies.

Since my New Years resolution to health, I have been committed to a two week long raw food diet, where I have been trying to eat all of my food raw. (Not raw meat, of course. Just raw fruits, veggies, and nuts.) I only have a couple more days of raw eating, so today I decided to make a smoothie for breakfast.

The New Year is a time that many people have designated to change their lifestyles. In the past, I have done the same and made resolution after resolution that is always abandoned after the end of January, or, if I’m really feeling ambitious, February. This year, I did something different.

My name is Kalynn (kay-linn) Brown, but most of my friends call me Kaly (kay-lee). I hail from Shelby, Montana, a very rural town with a population of about 3,000 people.
