NU Worship Album “For You”

In my last blog I mentioned how excited I was about our live recording that happened Monday, January 14th. Well let me tell you now, it was a huge success (from a student photgrapher: http://tinyurl.com/bcs6rbc)!

This is the first time that I have ever been a part of something like this, let alone ever led something like this. If I am fully honest, about a week before I was a little stressed. To start off, we just hired a new sound and media tech, Eli Ramos, after our guy who had done it for five years left between semesters. Eli drove from Cali on Monday the 7th, had his first staff meeting Tuesday morning, and was in practices with us before lunch. It was nuts. So major props to him! We also had some other speed bumps such as lighting, staging, amps, and finding enough time to do final run-throughs with a bunch of college students. But we pulled it off!

The coolest element of the project is that it really reflects NU Worship. We brought together six of our worship leaders and musicians from our different on-campus worship teams, and together we recorded an album that really sounded like what all of us do. This album is like our students - all over the place. There is rock music, dubstep, country music, gospel music, and even some indie music. It is like we took people from the different categories at the Grammys and put a worship album together.

Right now, we are about a little over a month away from our deadline to send it in to Nashville. So everything from this point is STUDIO, STUDIO, STUDIO. Our guitars went in to the studio on Monday and our vocals go in tomorrow. In a few weeks, we will fit as many members of NU Worship as we can into the studio and do a recording with them (which will be really cool to get them all in the project). We are working really hard in the studio. But for all the hard work that we are putting in, our producer Scott Anderson has been working so much harder. He is incredible!

So stay tuned. Relase dates are coming soon!
