One Day You Will Shine Again-Perseverance

I wish I could say life is good right now but in all honesty it has been a struggle lately. I hurt my knee in practice today, homework is in overload mode, I am working more hours, basketball season is ending, and I am trying to figure out my post-grad plans. Life is draining, and it has just been one thing after the other taking a toll on me. Do you ever have those days, weeks, or months?

I was on my way home from the grocery store and I was hoping for a song to pick up my mood. I was searching the radio and landed on Spirit 105.3, the Christian station for our area. The song Get Back Up by Toby Mac was on and it was just what I needed to hear!

Here are some of the lyrics:

You turned away when I looked you in the eye,
And hesitated when I asked if you were all right,
Seems like your fighting for your life,
But why? Oh why?
Wake up in the middle of your nightmare,
Saw it comin' but it hit you out of nowhere,

And there's always scars when you all back far
We loose our way we get back up again,
It's never too late to get back up again,
One day you will shine again,
You may be knocked down,
But not out forever,

Lose our way,
We get back up again,
So get up get up you gonna shine again,
Never to late to get back up again,
You may be knocked down but no out forever.

That song really spoke to me! Sometimes life can give you a beating. It can happen to the best and worst of people. We are not exempt as Christians and, in fact, the trials we face are supposed to be viewed and looked upon with joy according to James.

"Consider it all joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of our faith produces perseverance..." (James 1:2-4).

Let’s also take a look at Romans 5:3-4: "But we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope."

I draw strength off of that scripture, along with Psalms 34:19, "A righteous person may have many troubles but The Lord delivers him/her from them all."

This is what I love about the Lord; He is near when things are rough and if I call upon Him for help He is the first one on the scene! Draw strength from his word today. And if there has been many gray skies in your days lately know that there is a purpose and you can come out stronger on the other side, with the Lord's help, if you choose.

We may be knocked down BUT we are not out forever. So GET UP GET UP. You will shine AGAIN!
