Maybe you know by now that Kirkland isn’t the biggest of towns as it is close to Bellevue and Seattle, which are bigger, more urbanized cities. That doesn’t mean Kirkland is boring! Not true at all; in this blog post I’ll tell you the coolest places in town to hangout or study. So one of the first things you think of when you think of the Pacific Northwest is coffee shops and Kirkland has no shortage of great ones. One of my personal favorites is Zoka in downtown Kirkland. This place offers things that a regular chain coffee shop won’t offer you, like this:
If you enjoy a chill place to kick back or do some homework then Zoka is your place. On the other hand if you enjoy music with your coffee then Rococo is your kind of place, which is also nestled in the heart of downtown Kirkland. Rococo is a place where you can get your coffee fix as well as hear great local artists from around the area (even some artists from NU!). Like I said before, these are two of my favorite spots but I would highly encourage you to take a trip to downtown Kirkland, which is only a short drive and walk away from NU to figure out which one you like best!
Now, if you want to take a homework break for a few hours and you’re looking outside your window and the sun is shining then I suggest you take a walk or drive down to the Kirkland Waterfront. I will tell you now that reading this blog post does not do it justice as it is a place where you've got to visit and discover for yourself. Different parks are across the waterfront and are just waiting to be explored on a nice sunny day or even a cloudy day. It’s truly the ideal place to go for an early morning or a late spring night run.
