Roomies Advice

Last time I talked about the crazy fun, highly anticipated Screaming Eagles Week. This time, I want to talk about another rad event. Each semester NUSG hosts an event called “Roomies.” Roomies is a weekend where students are encouraged to go out on dates. It can range from the super-casual “friend zone” group hang out to the one-on-one "let’s DTR" date night. Regardless of the motivation for the night, roomies is one of the best events that happens each year.

My last two roomies experiences have actually been a blast. Last spring semester my roommates and I were asked to go with a group of girls (yes guys sometimes the girls ask you out). They took us to their house and made us a huge steak dinner, then afterwards we played laser tag, and then got froyo. The night was simple and memorable.

This past fall semester, I went with some new and old friends. The men asked the ladies with some semi-elaborate plans (I rewrote the lyrics to “call me maybe” and it worked!). Anyway, we took the girls to try some Thai food, had a photo scavenger hunt in the mall, and then went to laser tag (apparently we like laser tag). The cool thing about a night like this is that we did things that were fun in a group setting but also gave everyone the chance to make individual memories with their roomies date.

I think the best advice for anyone doing roomies is to make sure you know what type of roomies date you're going on and plan the group and activities accordingly.
