Screaming Eagles Week

Screaming Eagles Week

It is finally over, yet I feel like I still have not caught up on sleep. Last week was NU's annual Screaming Eagles Week. Definitely one of my favorite times of the school year. The week is filled with crazy events like dodgeball, dress up days, floor decorations, and a film festival. Now, in all honesty, I am pretty competetive. I love some games and sportsmanship, but I love winning even more. Last year (2011-2012) my floor "The Almighty 500 Ducks and Chicks" won, and so this year we came in as the defending champions.

Normally, there is just another floor that is a strong competitor, but this year to a lot of people’s surprise, FOA (the Firs, Off campus, and Apartments) was the team to beat. It seemed that they were cleaning up the competition in almost every event. At first this was super frustrating because I hate losing, but a guy on my floor brought up a wake up call.  He reminded me that in the past the FOA community really didn’t participate, so for them to be so actively involved and possibly win the competition was a huge win for our whole campus. It was cool to see that community getting a chance to be more involved with the whole community of NU.

With that in mind, the week climaxed late on Friday night, and 500 was re-crowned the winner of Screaming Eagles Week - making The Almight 500 Ducks and Chicks the record holder of the most SEW victories. Yes, my floor won again, but really Screaming Eagles Week was a win for the whole community. It brought us closer together, made us laugh, and gave us unforgetable memories.

I want to give a huge shout out to Ilona Trofimovich, the EC’s, SAB, the RA’s, and the AR’s for making this week incredible.
