Freshman year is super exciting as a student. Everything is new, cool, and away from parents! Three years later as a Junior, it can be easy to feel like you know everything that is going on and not be surprised. But that has not been the case for me this year. NU always seems to be having some event or thing happening!
One of the coolest teams on campus is called the Student Activities Board, led by my great friend Ilona. These students are in charge of making each day exciting. Their goal this year has been to “blow students' minds” and they definitely have succeeded. Last semester they planned crazy events like Gotcha, Seattle trips, Bigger or Better, Roomies, and more, so this semester I am anticipating what they will have up their sleeve.
I am stoked for screaming Eagles week this year. I think that the 500 floor is going to win again. I also have heard that Evening is going to be the best it has ever been. On top of all the cool events, NUMA (the Northwest University Ministry Association) is working on a worship album.
The very first day of the semester our community is going to come together and record a live worship CD. I don’t think that there is a better way to start the semester than by worship. The album has five covers, two hymns, and three original songs. Along with that, every song comes with a devotional that is written by professors. Having a school that comes together to worship is already pretty sweet but a school that creates great worship albums is out of the ordinary. That is definitely what I am most excited about.
Since it is a few days before the semester starts, I am also reminded of all of the friends that are going to be here. My favorite part about Northwest is the people. I have missed seeing all of the guys from my floor over break, so I cannot wait for us to be back together again, but it will also be cool to see what new friends I make over the semester.
Each semester has its highs and lows, but you always come out of it better. Who knows what’s ahead. So until next time…
