School of Business and Management

Overview

Dr. Teresa Gillespie
Dean, School of Business and Management

The primary purpose Northwest University's School of Business and Management is to provide students with education opportunities that balance intellectual and spiritual discovery with career aspirations. Graduate students will be introduced to the theory and practice of organizational operations and leadership in its many forms in local, national and international contexts.

The School of Business and Management is comprised of three programs of study — undergraduate Business Management, LEAP adult degree completion Organizational Management, and Master of Business Administration (MBA) — all united by the common goal of assisting men and women in meeting their career goals and deepening their understanding of business principles. Students learn to integrate Christian perspectives with business theory and best practices, resulting in their becoming ethical and motivated leaders who live according to Christian values.

In addition to their impressive academic preparation, the school’s faculty have business experience in many areas, including accounting, law, management, marketing, and technology. Professors seek to instill in their students a determination to succeed both in the workplace and in life and service. They stress the opportunities to become problem solvers, not just problem managers.

The School of Business and Management is designed to accommodate the needs of students in various stages of life who may need a focused business education. For those who cannot attend the traditional day program, the School of Business and Management offers the LEAP program. LEAP students attend classes with other working adults. The Master of Business Administration program is also designed for people with busy schedules and work commitments — the program meets in the evenings and on weekends. Both programs serve adult learners who bring to the classroom and program a rich tableau of prior learning, work-related experiences, and vocational aspirations.
