Why Northwest?

When I moved to Seattle I just started looking around for graduate programs and looked at the ICD program and realized that it was basically everything that I was looking for in a graduate degree.

Why ICD?

I was looking for a program, centered around social justice and one that would go more in depth than just a missions experience.

Experience at Northwest

I really liked the structure of the program, I mean I got married and started a family during the course of the program and was able to work full time too, so that was nice.

For my practicum I went back to Africa, where I got started with the whole social justice, humanitarian work. I went back to a couple of the orphan care centers that I had been in communication with and just talked with them about what they wanted to do, and how they wanted to grow.

I really focused my thesis on orphan care and really did a lot of research on the difference between what we think is institutional and family based care and the practicalities of each of those.

After Graduation

My thesis project was writing a business plan and so in the future I would like to turn that business plan into a non-profit called Not Alone International.
