Impactful, engaging, phenomenal, powerful, unreal—These are just a few of the words NU students used to describe this year’s Pursuit Conference. Our campus has been buzzing about what is becoming one of the leading spiritual formation conferences in the Pacific Northwest. During the last weekend in January, more than 600 people filled Butterfield Chapel for Pursuit Conference. Here, students and guests engaged in worship, heard from world-class speakers, and encountered God’s presence in refreshing ways.
I, like most students entering college, dreamt of the day I would leave Northwest University: the day I would walk across that stage and receive my diploma for the degree I worked so hard for. Unfortunately, I left NU two separate times before that happened. The first time was the most embarrassing. I had some wild and crazy notion that I could succeed at school without attending my classes on a regular basis.
As the end of the academic year nears, graduating students and their loved ones eagerly await the 2017 Commencement Ceremony.
This year’s graduation festivities kick off with the Baccalaureate Chapel on Friday, April 28, and conclude with the 2017 Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 6.

The Eagles are off to an incredible start. With a record of 9-2 in the Cascade Conference and 13-4 overall, the NU volleyball team swept Southern Oregon University, a team they had not defeated since 2005. This kind of success didn’t come overnight—it’s a result of the players’ dedication and Coach Bain’s belief in his team.
This coming February, Northwest University will welcome alumni to the Kirkland campus for a Homecoming Celebration. The Alumni of the Year will be announced and reunions for various academic departments will be held around campus. But one group of alumni already has a head start on reconnecting.
