Gatherings
There was hardly ever a shortage of events on our campus until COVID-19 struck. Our hope is that by still carefully following physical distance measures, we will be able to return some of the buzz of campus life to this upcoming semester. While some events will need to be postponed, many social gatherings can be creatively redesigned to safely follow public health guidelines.
All campus social gatherings will follow the Washington State phased reopening guidelines for gathering sizes, face covering, and physical distancing.
Gathering size restrictions depends on the purpose, location, and activity of the group (ex. classroom or training activities, worship activities, fitness or athletic activities, and social activities). We understand this may be confusing as the defining line between some of these forms of gatherings are not always clear. However, for the sake of health and safety, all departments have been instructed to interpret gathering guidelines conservatively.
Unless explicitly authorized, all student gatherings must be limited to no more than 5 total people. These gatherings must follow all guidelines regarding masks and physical distancing. Whenever possible, groups should try to meet virtually.
Limit Close Contact
Students need to limit the number of people with whom they come into close contact. Close contact is defined as being within six feet of a person for 15 minutes or more regardless of whether or not you were wearing a mask. Students are encouraged to limit their network of people with whom they are having close contact.
Please keep in mind, the smaller your group of close contacts, the less likely you will be to contract or spread COVID-19. Additionally, if someone in your close contacts contracts COVID-19, you will be asked to self-quarantine for two weeks and get tested. Students are encouraged to refrain from close contact with anyone outside of their campus household. However, if they choose to come into close contact with people outside of their household, that number of people should be very limited.
