I grew up in Western Washington. I formed a love of Spanish at an early age as my family consistently hosted exchange students from Spanish-speaking countries. I was thrilled to become a high school teacher after finishing my Bachelor’s degree. I taught in public and private schools for 13 years: English, Spanish, and Art. Thinking of that career, I am most proud of having led more than ten international trips for students, of being the Department Chair of the English Department, and of completing my Ph.D., allowing me to move into teaching higher education. Currently, my primary research interests include teacher training, content literacy, and children’s spirituality.
I am interested in art and woodworking, I have a pottery studio, and I love to read stories. I practice my Spanish anytime I can, and I enjoy driving in the mountains.
