Background

Dr. George Kelley is the Director for the Center for Online and Extended Education (COEE) at Northwest University (NU), in Kirkland, WA.  Dr. Kelley is responsible for all aspects of NU's online and extended education development, delivery, and support.

Dr. Kelley earned his doctorate at Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara, California. He also holds an MA in history and government from the University of Portland (OR) and MBA in marketing and MS in management degrees from Marylhurst University in Oregon. Dr. Kelley did his undergraduate work at Seattle University where he earned a BA degree in history.

Dr. Kelley has almost 25 years of experience in online higher education. From 2011-2018, Dr. Kelley managed all academic and continuing education programs at the University of Phoenix Washington Campus. From 2007-2011 Dr. Kelley served City University of Seattle (CityU) as its Sam Walton Fellow and SIFE team Director. In 2010, City University awarded Dr. Kelley with the Zeta Kappa Honor Society Award for Faculty Excellence. During his tenure at CityU, Dr. Kelley was consistently ranked as a Top Faculty from 2007-12. Dr. Kelley led his SIFE team to two national tournaments.

Dr. Kelley has taught leadership, Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, and social sciences at several accredited universities since the early 90s. Dr. Kelley has also chaired several successful doctoral committees, is a published author on leadership development and has made numerous presentations on leadership to diverse audiences.

Dr. Kelley has two adult daughters who are both artists. Dr. Kelley loves sports, history, politics, space, and the many natural amenities the Northwest offers. Among his favorite hobbies are hiking, biking, astronomy, and gardening.
