Position Details

Position Summary

The Buntain College of Nursing at Northwest University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position to begin in August 2023. The ideal candidate will possess a doctorate in nursing and have a proven track record as an adept teacher of undergraduate students. This full-time position involves teaching 24 credits per year.  

Candidates must possess a meaningful commitment to Jesus Christ, the church, and the Gospel. We are seeking someone with a winsome, encouraging and culturally engaged faith. Candidates with experience and evidence of mentoring diverse students, including those from underrepresented backgrounds in the sciences, are preferred.

Essential Functions

• Teach courses in the College of Nursing. 
• Advise College of Nursing students. 
• Work with the Curriculum and Evaluation Committee and the Dean to revise curriculum as needed. 
• Participate in the governance functions of the university as assigned. 
• Engage in scholarship related to his or her field of study.  

Qualifications

The successful candidate:

• Doctorate in Nursing or related field (master's degree in related field and applicable experience considered) 
• Successful candidate(s) must have an active and unencumbered Washington Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for obtaining a Washington RN license. Washington RN license required prior to start date.  
• Has current clinical experience of at least three years in the clinical subject area being taught. 
• Has a demonstrated record of successful teaching of nursing skills, concepts, and critical thinking.  
• Has experience or course work relating to curriculum development, course creation, and/or designing significant improvements to courses or curricula. 
• A demonstrated, vibrant evangelical faith compatible with the mission of Northwest University. 
• Willingness to apply a faith-based worldview to course design, instruction, and advising. 
• Seeks opportunities to increase understanding of cross-cultural nursing. 
• Indicates a commitment to helping students to achieve overarching nursing program outcomes and learning objectives specific to the courses taught. 
• Establishes and maintains positive relationships with students, faculty, university staff, clinical site personnel and its clients/patients, and the general constituency of the University. 
• Models best instructional practices in the classroom, online, clinical and/or skills lab setting. 
• Continually develops professional skills in aspiring students through coaching, modeling, evaluation, feedback, and direct instruction. 

Compensation

Based on education and experience, nursing faculty members with a doctorate start as an associate professor. The compensation range for an associate professor starts at $68,506 to a median of $74,991.

Selected programs of study are approved by a Washington State Approving Agency for enrollment of those eligible for benefits under Title 38 and Title 10, U.S. Code and by Washington State for training in Vocational Rehabilitation.
