Assistant or Associate Professor of Psychology (Tenure Track)

Position Details

Position Summary

The primary functions of a 0.5, tenure-track faculty member, in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, are to teach graduate psychology courses, aid students in their clinical training, guide students in their research activities, participate in academic research, and produce scholarly presentations and publications. Faculty members are also expected to fully participate in University life including committee work and other institutional activities. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.

Essential Functions

1. Teach 9 credits in the PsyD in Counseling Psychology program.
2. Support students in their clinical training and/or research activities
3. Participate in academic research and produce scholarly presentations and publications. 
4. Participate in CSBS department and university committees and activities
5. Attend and assist with departmental events including Orientation and Registration, cohort events, and graduation celebrations.
6. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Can document earned graduate degrees: Ph.D., Ed.D., or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology.
2. Has several years of clinical experience and holds a current psychologist license in Washington State (or is license eligible in Washington State) - preferred
3. Is involved in ongoing research in psychology and is published - preferred
4. Has had successful teaching experience at the university level – preferred
5. Is committed to establishing and maintaining positive mentoring relationships with a diverse student body.
6. Is committed to establishing and maintaining positive relationships with faculty, staff, and the general constituency of Northwest University.
7. Is committed to diversity, intercultural education, and multicultural psychology, and is committed to communicating the ethos of “psychology, culture and social justice” for the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
8. Is committed to the development of skills in his/her students by coaching, modeling, and direct instruction.

Compensation

Dependent on education and experience and based upon the established faculty salary schedule.

Northwest University's doctoral program in counseling psychology is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).

Selected programs of study are approved by a Washington State Approving Agency for enrollment of those eligible for benefits under Title 38 and Title 10, U.S. Code and by Washington State for training in Vocational Rehabilitation. It is listed in the current bulletin, "Accredited Higher Education Institutions," published by the U.S. Office of Education.
