Northwest University's (NU) Center for English Language Education (CELE) is seeking ESL teachers for our summer ESL camps at our main campus in Kirkland, WA. Every summer, NU hosts a number of groups from South Korea, China, and Japan who wish to improve their English language skills. These camps usually begin at the end of June and finish at the end of July.
This is a great opportunity to gain ESL teaching experience and meet people from around the world. The teachers are supported with training time and on going mentoring throughout the camp. Instructors usually teach three, 50- minute classes Monday through Friday. Classes usually begin at 9am and finish at 12pm. Typically, teachers are assigned one ESL skill or class and then different English class levels rotate every 50 minutes.
Instructors need to prepare and deliver engaging and student-centered lessons, support other teachers in a team-oriented environment, interact with students, and receive feedback in a positive way.
- Either has a bachelor's degree from an accredited university or is a current NU undergraduate student.
- Has a strong passion for teaching cross-culturally or working with international students. Teaching experience is a plus.
- Is teachable, flexible, and has a good attitude.
- Possesses a deep, personal commitment to Jesus Christ and to the Spirit filled life.
- Establishes and maintains positive relationships with students, faculty, university staff, and the general constituency of the University.
