Position Summary

Responsible to the Dean of the College of Education to facilitate all aspects of student recruitment, promotion of the College of Education graduate programs, consistent enrollments, retention, and completion. This is a full-time, 1.0 FTE position. Some weekend/evening work required. Travel, including overnight travel, is required.

Essential Functions

1. Facilitates all aspects of recruitment and initial enrollment of new students:

  • Follow personal contact from all inquiries into all COE Graduate programs (includes phone, e-mail, web site, and letters).
  • Track and maintain inquiries, prospects, and applicants using the admissions module of the university’s database system.
  • Initiates decisions to admit or deny applicants.
  • Facilitate creation, maintenance, and processing of  prospective and applicant student files until completion of the initial enrollment.
  • Promote attendance at Information Sessions with the intention of guiding new students through the admission and financial enrollment process.

2. Establish, promote, and negotiate recruitment contacts with schools, district offices, Christian organizations, businesses, corporations, and colleges to attract qualified students:‚Äč

  • Distribute promotional literature.
  • Conducts on site PR visits.
  • Promote COE Graduate programs at college, education, & business fairs. Coordinate Information Sessions and related materials.

3. Coordinate Information Sessions and related materials:

  • Establish rapport, deliver information, and build program confidence with prospective students; 
  • Participate as one of the presenters.
  • Answer prospect questions and help students overcome obstacles.
  • Persuade prospective students to become applicants.

4. Facilitate student readiness to enter COE graduate programs.

5. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Skills

1. Bachelor’s degree required and Master’s degree preferred; excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
2. Strong sales background with the ability to “close the deal.”
3. Strong computer skills in MS Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access)
4. Exceptional people skills and ability to build program credibility and confidence with potential students.
5. Strong public speaking & presentation skills for information sessions, education related events, schools, churches, job fairs, booths, etc.
6. Experience with schools, education systems, job fairs, booths, etc. 
7. Ability to track and follow-through with details (essential for contact & follow-up).
8. Ability to track, to prioritize, and to meet work deadlines. 
9. Comfortable in a school and/or corporate setting (for onsite visits, etc.). 
10. Willingness to be flexible and to accommodate the COE’s needs after typical business/campus hours.
11. A team player, a self-starter, and someone who can also work independently.
12. Knowledgeable in the area of graduate degrees and adult learning.
13. Knowledge regarding the education environment and surrounding business community. 
14. Demonstrates commitment to maintaining a safe work environment free of harassment, violence, and unlawful discrimination.
15. Ability to communicate effectively, to get along well with co-workers, and to deal effectively and professionally with colleagues.

Working Environment:

1. Work is generally performed indoors.
2. Some weekend/evening work required. 
3. Travel, including overnight travel, is required.  
4. Position works with strictly confidential information.
5. Requires work in outdoor weather conditions periodically.
6. Frequently required to be in front of a computer screen for long periods of time.


Physical Demands:

The functions are usually performed while sitting, but may involve some amount of standing, walking, carrying (max. of 25 lbs.), reaching, stretching, climbing, perform repetitive motions of the hands or wrists and other movements.  The abilities of seeing, hearing and speaking are also required.
