Position Summary

Coordinates and produces various Northwest University printing projects. Operates and maintains high-speed copiers, a large format printer and other print shop machines. Orders and stocks printing and paper supplies. Manages customer service requests and complaints when necessary. Keeps the printing production work areas clean and organized. Participates with the Mail Services Technician in support of Mail Services Functions. This is a full-time, 1.0 FTE position.

Essential Functions

  1. Reviews and fills printing requests and determines procedure and priority for accomplishment, accuracy and quality.  
  2. Maintains and operates a variety of copier equipment, including high volume copiers and finishing equipment.
  3. Orders paper, printing and mailing supplies as needed. Verifies invoices for supplies and equipment for approval by supervisor.
  4. Maintains the overall operations of Printing Services.  This would include facility organization, cleanliness and customer satisfaction.
  5. Is cross-trained in all Mail Services procedures, and assists and supports the Mail Services Technician in delivering mail and packages, and in serving the NU Community at the service window.
  6. Performs other work related duties as assigned.


  1. High school diploma or equivalent. Associate's degree or coursework in business or other related field preferred.
  2. Basic computer skills required (Microsoft Office suite and email). Experience with desktop publishing or graphic design a plus.
  3. Experience working with printing, office or other machines as an operator or in a mechanical capacity. Ability to troubleshoot and maintain copiers, printers, folding machines and paper cutters a plus.
  4. Experience working in a detail oriented environment where producing results to exacting standards is required.
  5. Strong customer service skills, including the ability to communicate effectively, get along with co-workers, and deal effectively and professionally with colleagues.
  6. Proven ability to be a self-starter; able to perform duties independently, with minimal supervision.
  7. Must be eligible for University insurance and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license.
  8. Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe work environment free of harassment, violence, and unlawful discrimination.

Working Environment

  1. Work is generally performed indoors in a typical office setting. 
  2. Position works with some confidential information.
  3. Requires work in outdoor weather conditions, including wet, cold, and heat.
  4. Frequently required to be in front of a computer screen for long periods of time.
  5. Work requires occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals.
  6. May be exposed to loud noise levels.

Physical Demands

The functions are usually performed while standing, but may involve some amount of time sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting (max. of 50 lbs.), walking, carrying, reaching, stretching, climbing, perform repetitive motions of the hands or wrists and other movements.  The abilities of seeing, hearing and speaking are also required.
