Position Summary
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide administrative support to the Director of Student Services, in support of the enrollment, event, and related functions of the MAICD program. This includes strategic communication with inquiries and applicants, creative writing, occasional event representation of the MAICD program, support at other program events, and mailings. This position is a 0.25 FTE.
Essential Functions
Assist the Director of Student Services with enrollment needs.
- Use Salesforce tools to text, call, and track inquiries and applicants identified as high priority, with the goal of scheduling an information appointment with the Director of Student Services, and secondarily, of providing a student/alumni connection and perspective, to close gaps in our funnel.
- Prepare applicant files for review.
- Write and/or edit content as requested to be used in promotional material.
- Enter and track data within Salesforce.
- Occasionally represent the ICD program at local, online and/or NU-focused recruiting events.
- Occasionally organize mailings.
Assist the Director of Student Services with events.
- Provide support and organizational assistance for on-ground MAICD annual or semester events (e.g. orientation, graduation events, and other special events.)
Perform other duties as assigned
Education/Experience/Skills
- Bachelor of Arts or Science degree.
- Experience with and enthusiasm for the MA in International Community Development degree.
- An ability to be detail-orientated and work carefully and precisely with data and systems.
- Excellent writing skills and knowledge of grammar.
- Engaging, friendly, compassionate, patient, and thoughtful phone and email presence.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, project, and creative abilities and skills.
- Proactive, independent worker who is largely self-motivating.
- Team player who is able to share knowledge and prioritize what is best for the customer.
- Experience working with data, in an office setting, and in customer service.
- Capability to maintain confidentiality is crucial.
- Must have compassion and commitment to serve poor and undervalued groups, keeping with the vision of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Intercultural experience and knowledge of preferred.
- Teachable and willing to learn.
- Demonstrate commitment to maintaining a safe work environment free of harassment, violence, and unlawful discrimination.
- Ability to communicate effectively, get along well with co-workers, and deal effectively and professionally with colleagues.
Working Environment
- Work is generally performed indoors in a typical office setting.
- Some weekend/evening work required.
- Travel, including overnight travel, may be required.
- Position works with strictly confidential information.
- Frequently required to be in front of a computer screen for long periods of time.
Physical Demands
The functions are usually performed while standing, but may involve some amount of time sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting (max. of 40 lbs.), walking, carrying, reaching, stretching, climbing, perform repetitive motions of the hands or wrists and other movements. The abilities of seeing, hearing and speaking are also required.
